At Staying Put we are getting ready for the holidays! Our volunteers are preparing to deliver poinsettias to our members to help usher in the holiday season. How many poinsettias are we delivering? Let's just saw, not only is our boardroom filled with poinsettias but our hallway and office as well. The Staying Put wreath, in honor of our amazing drivers, has been dropped at the @carriagebarnartscenter for their Deck The Walls exhibit which open Dec. 1st. Town organizations donate wreaths to then be auctioned off on Dec. 5th to benefit the Carriage Barn. Oh, the music... that's included in the wreath. Staying Put is so proud to announce that the Jim C

Staying Put is so proud to announce that the Jim Cole Inspiration award was posthumously awarded to Barbara Johansen and accepted by her daughter Kathleen. Barbara was a founder of Staying Put and and her extensive volunteer career included the first Waveny Committees, AAUW, the New Canaan Town Band, Nature Center, Historical Society, Scouting, Girls and Boys Baseball, St. Aloysius and St. Thomas More Churches, New Canaan Country School and the Covenant of the Sacred Heart. Following her son Paul's death from cancer, Barbara developed and founded C.O.P.E. (Change of Pace Experiences); a 501(c)3 offering programs for parents of children with cancer/catastrophic illness. In 1993, Barbara merged COPE with Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in order to serve campers' parents. This parents' program continues to this day. #newcanaan #wholeinthewallgangcamp
