Our Mission

Staying Put in New Canaan is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer-supported organization dedicated to giving our seniors the practical means and social support to live their lives to the fullest, safely and confidently, in the New Canaan community.

Fri, Dec 4, 10 am - 12 pm: Holiday Shopping at Lord & Taylor
Let our Staying Put Angels help you pick out the perfect gifts for yourself and others. Carpool from the office or rides available. RSVP.

Mon, Dec 7 through Thurs, Dec 10, 2-4 pm: Mitten Tree at the Staying Put Office
Stop by the office one afternoon this week for hot chocolate and cookies. Bring a hat, scarf or pair of mittens to decorate our holiday tree. Items will be donated to the Vine Cottage's winter clothing drive.

Wed, Dec 9, 9 am - 8 pm: New Canaan Wine Merchants Gives Back
36 Pine Street. Ten percent of all sales on this day go to Staying Put. Shop or order by phone (203-972-0100) any time during the day or stop by between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm for some appetizers and a special wine tasting.

  • Gift Certificates are available in the office. Stop by to pick up a gift certificate for a family member or friend redeemable at dozens of stores in New Canaan. Don't miss the Holiday Stroll Entertainment. Friday, Dec 4, 6-9pm.

  • Register online for the New Canaan Emergency Outcall System at newcanaanct.org.

  • Medicare Annual Enrollment, Lapham Center. This is your once-a-year opportunity to select your Part D Drug Plan for 2016. Last year 40% of attendees found a less expensive drug plan. Enrollment ends Dec. 7th. Call Lapham to make a free appointment with a Medicare counselor. 594-3620.

  • Holiday Safe Tea at Lapham. December 8, 1-2:30 pm: Staff from People's United Bank and the New Canaan Police Department will host a tea with information about seasonal scams. Tea and cookies will be served. 594-3620.

  • Parkinson's Fitness Training, Lapham Center. Six Tuesdays, Jan. 5-Feb. 9, 1-2 p.m., $60. 594-3620. Carolyn Cole is a Parkinson's Specific Fitness Trainer. Participants generally experience less pain, re-establish muscle memory and develop greater balance. The first class is a free demo.
